About Us

Our mission with South-West SLT is to share our knowledge with as many families as possible to help children grow into confident competent communicators.

Children flourish when learning is fun! That’s why we provide fun, play-based therapy for little learners aged 2-7!

The partnership between parents and therapist is crucial to our work. Goals are jointly decided, ensuring effective, tailored intervention which is relevant to your little learner.

  • Emma Pomroy

HIGHLY SPECIALIST SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Hi I’m Emma, a Highly Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.

I ADORE what I do. I truly feel that effective communication skills are crucial to a happy and healthy life. What is more important that being able to express when you’re hurt, or telling someone you love them?! Working with families and helping their children express their needs, ideas and feelings is such a gift. The fact that this is done through the medium of play makes it even better!

Outside of work, you can find me running along the thames…usually to find a spot for coffee or wine!

    ADMIN ASSISTANT

My name is Fiona and I am the admin assistant for South West Speech Therapy. I have been a virtual assistant now for over 2 years and I just love keeping people organised!!

When I'm not doing admin duties, I am a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy and one or two margaritas!

  • Michaela Flood

    SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSISTANT

I’m Michaela, I have spent many years working with little ones with communication needs, including as part of a council-funded behavioural support service.

Now I work as a SLTA, providing therapy in partnership with Emma. We work collaboratively with families to ensure little ones make excellent progress, without even realising they’re ‘working’!

  • Jessica Anderson

HIGHLY SPECIALIST SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Hi I’m Jessica, a Highly Specialist Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist.

I am truly passionate about what I do and I absolutely love supporting the paediatric population in reaching their highest potential. Working alongside their families and empowering them to play key roles in their development is a bonus. Recently becoming a mum myself, I have a new appreciation and understanding for families I work with. I feel so lucky to be able to contribute to our youngest generations learning and development and can’t wait to see them thrive.

I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring London with my family and all it has to offer, especially the many coffee spots and parks.

How we got here…

I (Emma) always knew I wanted to help people, and what could be more important than being able to communicate effectively!

In 2013 I graduated from the University of East Anglia with a degree in Speech and Language Therapy. After working within a number of different environments including hospitals, special schools, NHS services and a Harley Street SLT clinic I decided to set up my own therapy service.

Working privately, and for the NHS gave me a broad overview of different interventions and models of therapy. Setting up Southwest Speech Therapy allowed me the flexibility to provide high quality, evidence-based therapy to families.

I loved working for myself, having the freedom to provide therapy that could adapt at the drop of a hat to meet the families needs. Child struggling with making friends at nursery - no problem, let’s move the support there! Little one finding instructions hard in rugby club - let me come and have a look at what’s happening and we can problem solve together with the coach!

Since the pandemic things started to shift a bit. There is now a bigger need than ever for speech therapy. At the same time, I could no longer ignore the feeling of how inaccessible private therapy is for many families. So I decided to do something about it!

  • I started my instagram page, giving out bitesized advice and support for free.

  • I created my website, blog and monthly newsletter - diving deeper into topics I know families care about.

  • I expanded my team to more than a 1 woman show! Taking on therapy assistants to allow a more financially accessible model of therapy for more families.

  • I started offering online consultations and short online courses to allow families outside of London a bit of extra support.

There is more to come, but this is the story to date! I hope you can tell, I am passionate about all things communication, I adore working with children and their families and feel strongly that private therapy shouldn’t be only reserved for the ‘top 2%’.
