How does it all work?

Tell me about your little one with a phone consultation

Whenever working with a new family I always start with a free phone consultation. This is your time to tell me about your concerns in more detail and for me to explain how I work.

Book in for an initial assessment in your home

Before we begin our therapy journey we need to work out what is easy and what is tricky for your little one. Children are usually their most comfortable at home, so conducting the assessment in this setting provides the best representation of their skills. Assessment sessions are usually 2 hours to provide enough time for discussion and assessment.

Therapy starts!

Following analysis of the assessment data, and discussion of the results we will work out if your little one needs therapy. It may be that they do not need active therapy but we want to review things in a few months, or we may want to start right away.

I will always make a recommendation on the duration, frequency and location of therapy based on what the research tells us and what I know of your child. This allows you to make a decision that is right for your family.

Access to NHS services

Choosing to start private therapy does not affect your access to NHS speech & language therapy. It is completely your decision as to whether your child has private therapy at the same time as NHS support or whether you want to pause on private therapy while they are accessing NHS services.

Invoicing

All assessments and therapy will be invoiced for at the end of the month. If you have private health insurance you will need to pay the invoice directly and then claim the fees from the insurance company. It is recommended that you check the terms of your cover prior to commencing therapy.
